Peachtree District Championship in Athens

The inaugural Peachtree District Championship is in the books, and what a story that book holds! With only 2 1/2 days between our last qualifier and the District event, the team packed up and headed out to Athens to compete.

This event saw more FIRST star-power with FIRST President Don Bossi, and Director of FRC Frank Merrick coming to celebrate Georgia FIRST's transition to the District model.

We saw many old friends and made a few new ones, and rekindled several alliances. Our robot did really well throughout the event and during the alliance selection we joined Global Dynamics #4026 and previous winning alliance partners Walton Robotics #2974 and blasted through the quarterfinals and semi-finals. During the final matches... WE WON which qualified us for the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis!

What a thrill it is to have 2 beautiful blue banners for our build site. Actually, we'll have FOUR blue banners, as our team won the Engineering Inspiration award which also qualified us for a trip to Worlds.
We could not have made it this far without everyone believing in us, supporting and cheering us on the entire way. We are so grateful to our amazing mentors, parents and sponsors. Thank you to everyone who helped make our journey possible.

Special thanks to GE, Automated Logic, United Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Best Buy, NASA, Branch Properties, Stanley Black & Decker, PTC, Epson, J Wood Metal Art, Edhesive, Howe Roofs, CLC Work Gear, Cobb EMC, Rotary Club of East Cobb, Kroger, East Penn Manufacturing Co., Chick-fil-A Lassiter, Honeywell Safety Products, Papa John's Pizza, Kennesaw State University, Novelis, Alpha Omega Health Center and Georgia FIRST Robotics for helping to make our STEAM dreams come true.

Kennesaw Qualifier, FRC, FTC and Woodie Flowers

The team participated in their 2nd Qualifier in the new Peachtree District model this past weekend. We had a great surprise when we saw Woodie Flowers walking through the pits! He is an amazing person and spent a little time in our pit and checked out our robot. He signed it and even gave it a kiss for luck.

We also had our new FTC team (more about that later!) in the lobby doing a demonstration of that level of robot, and we also had some peeps in purple demoing an FLL robot. Many exciting additions to the team coming soon!

The robot performed like a champ, and we wound up coming home with the Industrial Design Award. Looking forward to the State Competition this weekend in Athens. For more info, visit the Georgia FIRST website.
